Ever heard the expression “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”? Well, this can have gazillions of different interpretations, such as “be happy it gave you anything at all”, “be happy it is something useful” (you can make lemonade, or any other drink you like that has lemons), or simply “throw them back at life” =). My point and the connection to the theme of this blog is: When life puts you in a H4 situation, try to make the best of it. Enjoy it while you can, it’s temporary. Take it as a sabbatical, update your reading, rest, enjoy the weather (specially in my case, in Silicon Valley it’s almost always sunny), learn something new (a new language, a new sport, new recipes, something you have never done before), meet new people, get better at things you already know, volunteer somewhere, whatever rocks your boat.
It is scary to live in a different, strange country, but as time goes by and things become familiar, it gets better (as long as you don’t stay home and isolate yourself the whole time).
